Democrats and progressives seem intent on not taking any responsibility whatsoever for normalizing the sort of behavior we saw in D.C. There is no point in discussion.

IMO BLM has no real interest in helping blacks as evidenced by their ridiculous rejection of family structure ( one of the main tools that impovershed groups always use to rise out of poverty.

I think both the summer riots and the Capital Storm happened for the same reason because people felt like they had no voice. Government buildings and officials were damaged or taken or threatened in both cases.

Lastly, it shouldn't realy matter the actions were dangerous and wrong and should have been stopped. Imagine if the Capitaol Police had been ordered to pull out and leave the elites vulnerable in the same way the inner city poor were left vulnerable this summer?
The fact that Democrats have embraced the BLM protesters' cause does not make them a partner with BLM, the organization. It also doesn't make them leaders in that cause. BLM (the organization and the protesters) have rejected the anarchists who have used the protests to advance their own agendas and have been implicated in most of the acts of vandalism and violence. Many, if not most, of those who have protested under the BLM banner don't even subscribe to the alternative politics of the organization, but believe that they have either been victims of systemic racism or empathize with those who have.

Protesting for civil rights is different than challenging the political direction of a nation. Democrats embracing a civil rights cause is also different than inventing a narrative of deliberate electoral fraud and using it to demonize another party and undermine faith in the electoral system, simply because one incumbent President was determined to win the election at any cost.

    Agree to disagree:
    1) Riots were allowed to continue by a number of dempocrat politicians in a position to stop them, network "news" shows interviewed BLM leaders who thinly veiled encoragment of violence, people died, gang activity sky rocked in the cover of the riots, even more young black men being killed by other young black men, government buildings taken while police were told to stand down, Tweets encouraguing riots and all that goes with them, Rand Paul and his wife probably would have been killed ( really, not like an AOC "he tried to murder me" .if police had not got there when they did.
I see no fundemental difference except dems were fine with 300 riots but not with the only one that came to their place of business. This is reinforced by what most mayors allowing inner cities to burn did when even vandalism came to their house. Called the police and had it stopped.
Protesting I encorage and believe we should all do more of it. Vandalism, riots, violence and arson are not protesting. Both groups had peaceful protestors and rioters.

BTW WHO are we violating principals of modern politics by disagreeing strongly woithout calling each other names or infering the other is either dumb ( definetly not true in this case) or evil? Disagreeing without being disagreeable is an adult ( really should be developed by high school) skill that is not very popualr today. So I thank you for an honest discourse.

Democrats did not embrace "civil rights". They embraced fabrications and outright lies that resulted in riots throughout the country. Quite frankly, most of them knew better. Most of you here at tPF did too.

1 The riots, the looting, the burning, the vandalism, the etc were not just by Antifa but also by BLM and other "peaceful" protesters.

2 Civil Rights were established in the 60s. The protests/riots were not about that. --The difference was explained in the thread on neoracism and the different waves of so-called social justice.

The daily reinforcement of Black America's delusions and paranoia was something Democrats and progressives here at tPF happily engaged in. Many of us on the right were criticized for questioning the demonstrably false narratives that incited the riots of 2020. Now they want to lecture us about incitement. I say, kindly $#@! off.

Thank you DT and you are welcome. Disagreeing without being disagreeable has always been a principle that I live by. Insulting people because they disagree with one's opinion is antithetical to civilized discussion.

1 Those who deliberately engaged in rioting; looted, burned and vandalized were not legitimate protesters, but opportunistic outliers who hijacked the protests for their own ends. They would include extremist groups, both left and right, as well as criminals.

2 I find that neoracist theory, like most trending elitist theories and many of the ill-advised remedies that they advocate, tend to serve the interests of those who make a living dispensing these 'nuggets of wisdom', more than they serve society. However, that doesn't diminish the issues that the BLM protests address or disqualify them as matters of civil rights inequity.
