Bipartisan group of former judges back Merrick Garland confirmation as attorney gener

I think Garland will make an excellent AG. The left is going to be disappointed, because Garland isn't going to get political over his position.

A bipartisan group of dozens of former federal judges called Friday for the Senate to confirm Merrick Garland to lead the Department of Justice as attorney general.

In a letter to Sens. Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell, Senate Judiciary Chair Richard Durbin and ranking member Chuck Grassley, the judges urged the upper chamber to carry out the confirmation process "as swiftly as possible." The judges cited Garland’s record of service as a judge and prosecutor, including his oversight of the federal investigation into the Oklahoma City bombing.

"We believe, based upon Judge Garland’s character, his impeccable judicial service, and his distinguished service to the United States as a federal prosecutor and senior Justice Department official, that he will be an outstanding attorney general," the judges said in the letter.

Why wouldn't these former bipartisan judges have their names listed?

This guy seems to have a problem with our laws...and he doesn't seem to be able to distinguish lawful from lawlessness.

He excuses lawlessness for his side.

Well...this is what the left wants.

I don't put much stock in his waffling at the hearing. That is the way confirmation hearings go these days.

I suspect he will be a good AG. We'll see.

His testimony was nothing but avoidance of questions.

We will not know if his testimony was appeasing the left or just trying to hide his agenda from the left.

Maybe his answer to prosecuting illegal immigration should have been that if Congress makes it legal then it is not his job. Instead pretending his job is to follow current law makes him unacceptable. I prefer when Congress is told to do their job and make or fix laws.
