'Progressive' church claims: Parts of Bible wrong because it isn't the 'Word of God'

A Tennessee “church" which calls itself “progressive” told members of its congregation that the Holy Bible is not “infallible,” nor even “the Word of God,” during a recent service and then it repeated those lies on social media.

The Christian Post reported that Nashville’s GracePointe Church and its pastor Josh Scott used a Feb. 7 virtual service to go after the Bible. The service preceded a Facebook post which claimed, among other things, the Bible is merely a “human response to God.”

“As Progressive Christians, we're open to the tensions and inconsistencies in the Bible. We know that it can't live up to impossible, modern standards. We strive to more clearly articulate what Scripture is and isn't," GracePointe wrote online.

The Facebook post then claimed the Bible is not "the Word of God,” not “self-interpreting,” not “a science book,” not an “answer/rule book" and not "inerrant or infallible."

I'm not sure from the description hor far they take this but I could be in agreement.
I do not believe in the story of Adam and Eve. I do not believe in the story of Noah...
These were all stories written to be preached to the vast majority that could not read it themselves. The stories were meant to create a fear of consequences if they did not meet certain morality standards. They were not smart enough to question the stories and they were not educated.

So you can believe in the message of morality without believing the specific stories. If that is what they are trying to say then I'm okay with it. If they are doing it because they want more contributors on Sunday to drop money in the basket then I'm not okay with it.

We also know that God did not write the Bible personally. Others were enlisted to write it for him.

Then HOW do you explain deep-see fossils being found at highest mountain peaks?

They are not Christians. These are Marxist to say it nicely. These people are God haters, not your enemies but His. We are not to love His enemies. When a building allows haters of God into a building and calls themselves Christians, get the heck out of it.

How do we know that it's not just another unverified story. Perhaps those mountains were formed (grew) over tens of thousands of years and the fossils may have risen with the mountain as the mountain grew taller and taller. Mountains do form that way.

Where did that water go? Is there a great lake under the surface?
The Earth's surface constantly changed. Mount Everest was not always a mountain.
If you believe those stories then I do not want to argue with you. The message they send is the important part.

Your statement tells more about you than the people who belong to that church.

You don't believe the Bible at all. Christians believe the OT and NT. Just curious, why do you question as if you know something more than Him.
