Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan

Anyone with access to Netflix might enjoy this history series: Age of Samurai: Battle for Japan

"Dynamic reenactments and expert commentaries bring to life the tumultuous history and power struggles of a warring 16th-century feudal Japan."

Samurai originally meant servant. They emerged as a military force just as the gun appeared in Japan as a weapon--which ultimately defeated the use of samurai. I didn't know before that Buddhist at this time were a powerful military and political force--defeated in 1571 by warlord Oda Nobunaga.
Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler

    Age of Samurai..... (thepoliticalforums.com)

Its excellent History.....I watched 3 episodes last night. It was the same for me.....I didnt know the Buddhists were a powerful and political force in Japan either. But Nobunaga made sure they wouldnt be one ever again. Also those that were the Precursor before the advent of Ninjas, from Iga gave him a bit of a problem. Until he killed all that damn near lived in that province.

Nobunaga they got Right.....He was just like Alexzander for the Japanese. The World was quite lucky that the Japanese at that time had no visions of going out and conquering the world.
History does not long Entrust the care of Freedom, to the Weak or Timid!!!!! Dwight D. Eisenhower ~
