Cactus candy is sold all over Arizona.

I've never tried it, even though I've been an Arizona resident since 1985.

Sweet (literally)! Let us know how they are. I was going to ask my one of my cousins (who lives in Tucson) if she ever tried them.

    Why not?

My cousin in Tucson, recently sent me some green corn tamales packed in dry ice, at great expense I'm sure. I was in seventh heaven. It's my favorite food in the world.

Afraid I can top that. I came here in '93 and haven't been to the Grand Canyon yet.

I don't get the whole tamale thing, honestly. Everybody here makes a big deal about knowing a woman or a family that makes "authentic" tamales. I love Sonoran food, but the "authentic" tamales are all dough with not much more than a thin strip of beef, pork, cheese, what-have-you in the middle. I like some food with a little more substance, like beef enchiladas with red sauce.

Eating the raw fruit is supposed to be a natural remedy for type II diabetes.

They say it lowers sugar and cholesterol numbers.
