Thin blue line painted on New Jersey roadway called “symbol of hate”

The following article contains editorial content written by a retired Chief of Police and current staff writer for Law Enforcement Today.

HOLMDEL, NJ- Get it right people…Black Lives Matter murals painted on a public roadway honoring a radical Marxist organization that wants to dismantle the American system—good. A blue line painted on a public roadway innocuously placed between double-yellow lines on a public roadway—bad.

Remember—cops bad, BLM good. Got it?

In New Jersey, the town of Holmdel is one of a number of New Jersey communities that painted a “thin blue line” on a local street in order to honor police officers.

However now, the town’s Human Relations Committee (HRC) has recommended that it be removed because—it’s a symbol of “hate.”

That’s right, the thin blue line, used to commemorate police who are the sentinels between good and evil is now considered a hate symbol, just like say a swastika. Why?

According to the HRC, because the blue line has allegedly been “appropriated by white supremacist groups,” the blue line painted on a small portion of a local roadway, about a quarter-mile makes “residents feel unwelcome and even threatened.”

Mr. Cop. Your 'profession' brought this on yourselves. You shut your eyes when the bad guy was doing his dirty work and you followed orders to arrest and manhandle the very people that supported you.

In all honesty, your double standard began back shortly after the US student uprisings starting in Berkeley. You treated with kid gloves black criminals and offenders.

The media coddled these minority offenders and even asked them for suggestions for improving the penal system. LOLOL talk about foxes in the Hen houses.

You have bowed to orders by mayors and governors when you KNEW those orders were UNLAWFUL.

I don't hold you responsible for having to shoot people in order to protect yourselff or the public. And i realize from the government's own statistics that more white men are shot than black men in the course of a year. YOU had my support.. until i saw you did not have MY back.

HOLMDEL, NJ - The Holmdel Ad Hoc Committee on Human Relations, approved by the Township Committee and headed by Deputy Mayor Cathy Weber, has come out with their report.
In it, seven recommendations to improve local government.
Notably, the issue that sparked the controversy that surrounded the emergence of the committee, the 'blue line', will stay for now. That may not go over well with student activists who have called in to public meetings for over a year to remove it. They have called it racist while supporters say it supports the law enforcement community. While recommending that the 'blue line' is not removed, the committee did share their view on it:
"The symbol has been appropriated by white supremacists groups and the Blue Line now has the effect of making some members of our community feel unwelcome, and even threatened, in Holmdel. The HRC finds this impact unacceptable. It should not be ignored that the Blue Line flag was carried alongside Confederate flags and Nazi insignia by the insurrectionists who breached our Nation’s Capitol on January 6th, 2020. The HRC therefore recommends that the HTC abstain from maintaining Holmdel’s Blue Line."

The HRC is not elected or even appointed. They are nothing but a self appointed group that the town council appeases by allowing them to make recommendations. But every citizen is allowed to do that.

I see that the nine member Human Relations Committee has a spot for a "Holmdel Township Police Representative". Hopefully that individual raised some Hell about this "recommendation". Hopefully also the town council and mayor pointedly ignore same.

So the blue line has been "appropriated" by white supremacist groups? Has anyone pointed out to those HRC folks that such groups also routinely display and carry the American flag? Do we have to hide that away now, too?

Do you know who else flies a "blue line flag"? My neighbor one street over, and it's a large one. He's a retired cop. I guess someone should tell him about how disturbing and potentially racist his flag is. (I'm not volunteering to be the one to do that, by the way.)
