I'm going to have to disagree with you there. The modern liberal bears no resemblance whatsoever to classical liberalism.

For me this just demonstrates the frailty and idiocy of the modern day, most likely republican, conservative, or libertarian person. The sky is always falling, always falling, every varied and critical look at society isn't thought through but rather results in anguished cries, the sky is falling. Grow up boy and girls this too shall pass. Tomorrow you can whine about trans horses or other interesting topics like wokeness or cancel culture or leftist, all words that like a bell for Pavlov's dog get a rise in your blood pressure.

This is what I mean when I say "It all seems so silly, right, dismissive, right". But midcan, who poses as a philosopher, fails to understand the philosophical underpinnings of Critical Theory.

Why couldn't I have have gone through college during a woke period.

Differential Equations would have been so much easier if I did not need to get the right answer. The final would have been a breeze. Uhhhh...the answer is 1. Yeah that's it.

Yea, that's a long, long discussion.

Basically though classical liberalism assumed a theory of man in nature as an individual with rights and that a social contract was required. The right (Scottish, British, American branch, following Hayek) adopted the Lockean view and the left (French) adopted the Rousseauian/Marxist view that differed in specific means but basically held that a social contract was required to protect those rights. The means of the right was laissez-faire, the means of the left restrictive government. The end product however in each was the creation of a big centralized, out-of-touch, and all-powerful government to protect and promote those individual rights, along with the destruction of the social order that existed between the individual and the government--the social norms, customs, institutions that once stood between the individual and the government like the church, guilds, family, even the nobility in later Medieval Europe.

First of all, how math is used is different than the nature of mathematics itself. The statement "math is racist", is simply illogical. The allegations made about algorithms and data resulting in discrimination may well be true, but they are true for everyone, not just minorities. Yes, insurance companies and banks discriminate based on mathematical risk factors. That is the nature of the beast and the basis for a risk based product. When they objectively discriminate based on race or ethnicity, it has nothing to do with math, but bigotry. Algorithms used in personality tests don't look at race or ethnicity. On the other hand police policies based on zip codes has nothing to do with math at all. A zip code is shorthand for the name of an area, so entirely different concepts are being conflated. Similarly, the practice of imposing harsher sentences based on family history. That's not math, that's social judgment as is discriminating based on literacy.

The "racist" math practice in education is also full of conflations. While it makes some interesting points about some teaching methodology, again these points would be valid for all students, not just minority kids. It also alludes to streaming concepts, which again have nothing to do with mathematics but social judgment. However, it's all wrapped up in Marxist rhetoric, which appears to be it's real agenda.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.
