    What is "bad faith posting"?

I never saw this term before until I discovered this forum. Because if it's what I think it is there seems to be a lot of it about.

It is basically defined in Rule # 1: Members are expected to post in good faith. By this, we mean they are expected to engage in and contribute to discussion rather than detract from it. Examples of posting in bad faith include, but are not limited to: baiting members, going off topic outside of a natural progression, flooding the forum with threads of little or no content, and ignoring moderator requests.
In quoting my post, you affirm and agree that you have not been goaded, provoked, emotionally manipulated or otherwise coerced into responding.

I've pondered this as you are now. It's a legal term and it is a nice way of saying 'dishonesty'. How can it not be subjective. Someone has to make that determination regardless. One can write something and depending on your mood....you can read whatever you want into it. Or for that matter, perhaps it can be interpreted by your own belief system especially if you know the belief system of the other person.

    Confusing isn't it?

Then it doesn't mean what the legal definition means. Personally i think it would be helpful rather than just labelling it bad or good faith...just say what the problem is.

I would add deliberately misrepresenting another member's stated views - which usually entails creating a Straw Man - responding to a post with a complete non sequitur, and refusing to engage honestly when asked to define one's terms or explain a previous post.

...and this is why I like you so much.

You generally take the time to give an intelligent and well written reply to the question.

You blew me away when I first joined with how much you know about pellet guns, and explained so in great technical detail.
