I would add that Admin has the final say. He works closely with the mods, so that is his right.

But politics does enter into picking nominees because they lately try to balance things politically and bypass good candidates because of their politics.
BUT, that's my point, a couple of them don't.

`One of the the things people tend to forget, and it always annoys me when I see it, is that Mods are also posters, contributing members of the forum. As such, they have their own opinions and viewpoints and should be able to express them like any other poster without somebody jumping out and saying "That's a bad thing for Mod to say" or when they get into a disagreement as a poster, somebody whining about the fact that they are expressing themselves and suggesting that since they are Mods, they shouldn't have an opinion on whatever the current topic under discussion might be.

This is not unique to this forum. I have seen it elsewhere, as well. People seem to think that because someone is a Moderator, he is no longer entitled to have an opinion or to express that opinion.

They are Posters first, Moderators second.

I don't give a damn what their viewpoint is when posting an article. But I do give a damn when they moderate according to their personal views. They're supposed to be unbiased then.

Yea that is a problem. (1) Mods are members who post opinions and that shouldn't be held against them. (2) But mods are expected to show good-faith behavior, whatever that means, but at least not misbehave, not violate rules, not troll, etc. Members need to keep (1) and (2) separate. If they see bad behavior in a mod they should not post about it but report it or contact another mod or admin.

Yea, well, then report them or talk to another mod or admin. Confrontation online muddies the waters.
