Moderators are certainly entitled to their views and should be free to express them. At the same time, when a Moderator him- or herself becomes a bad example for the other members - when they engage in wild, condemnatory hyperbole and insults, as an example, and make this forum a worse place in which to attempt to engage in a rational, adult discussion - then I don't think it's possible to claim that they are doing the job for which they were selected. It's also next to impossible to see them as a fair and impartial enforcer of forum rules, even if they are, in fact, acting as such.
