He had the gun and they defuse first. Read SW's post. And, no, it's not ok that they didn't arrest the guys that attacked this man. My point was the title is misleading - they didn't arrest him, they detained him.

Why would you think I think "But as long as they don't don't arrested the ones being attacked, everything is fine."? What about my 5 year posting history even remotely suggests that I think that? I do, however, abhor, misleading titles designed to inflame rather than educate/inform.

Conservatives need to understand in these areas, if you have an American flag on your vehicle, that is inciting violence to the police there. Not attacking vehicles with hammers ect. If you are praying in a park, that is inciting violence, not throwing fire into buildings, smashing windows and attacking random people. If you have a sign that says, children cannot consent, the police will tell you it's YOU inciting violence, not the ones threatening you and throwing objects.

Understand this when in these areas. The police will not arrest them.

Its like the old joke in the New Yorker Magazine. An upper class Matron tells a teacher at her son's school "Little Purvis is very sensitive, if he does anything wrong just slap the boy next to him"

There is a certain logic to that. If the kid(s) next to him get slapped often enough, they will eventually grow tired of it and deal with the troublemaker themselves.

The guy on the scene with a gun, unless he's in uniform, is always going to be the primary and immediate focus of responding law enforcement - which is as it should be. Unfortunately, many people, consciously or unconsciously, seem to believe that the police are going to take one look at them and realize immediately that they're "the good guy" in the situation. (It happens in court, too - people coming in with zero evidence to support their side of the story, expecting the judge to look at them, hear their voice and know immediately that their every word is gospel.) That's why I always advise someone who has had to use a firearm to defend their home and/or life, or to protect someone else, to put the gun away before the cops arrive.

How could this instance be fear? The man immediately tossed his weapon on the floor of the truck, and got face down on the street and waited for them to do their thing. He made no threatening moves. Why didn't they take even a single one of them into custody? At least one of the loud mouths screaming he was a "$#@!ing proudboy".

I always tell students when the cops arrive...

    1. Do EXACTLY what they tell you to do. They don't know who the good guy is and who the bad guy is.
    2. Don't try to explain anything. Speak two sentences to them, then shut up. The sentences are "I was in fear for my life" This establishes the self defense premise, and "I want a lawyer". This will give you time to allow the adrenaline to ebb from your system and let you calm down and collect your thoughts before you make any oral or written statements.
