If you want to buy BTC or other cryptocurrencies, I'm surely not opposed to it. I mean, I'd like to know exactly what utility they serve that the VISA card in my pocket already serves. I mean, as far as 'money' VISA lets me buy or sell anything from anybody in any currency and converts it, of course to dollars. And then everytime you buy and sell some coin, you're triggering a recognition event for purposes of capital gains.

Sure, its gone up in value but if you're speculating on that fine, but ultimately all you are speculating on is that more people will want it in the future. Its like an electronic gold bug really, I mean, gold is fine if you want gold, there is a use case for gold of course, but all gold does is to sit there, in fact gold's disadvantage is you have to guard it from theft. It does have the advantage that you can stuff it into a safety deposit box and when you die the government won't know you have it for purposes of estate tax, right?

Income generating assets. I think stocks are generally overvalued, but businesses that produce valuable things that people will want is still where the focus of your investing should be. Preferably your own business.

Now there is also a secondary risk and people need to hear this. Let's presume crypto actually is the greatest thing ever. Ok, let's just assume that fact into existence.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_Order_6102

1933 FDR limited the ability of Americans to own gold.

Here is a list of countries that have purportedly banned Bitcoin:

    https://www.escapeartist.com/blog/co...vel this month.

    Is this list correct?

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legali...of_bitcoin.png

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-s...-idUSKBN1FC069

So South Korea bans anonymity, ok, not too bad right, again what value does this serve over and above VISA? The government will know about it.

But the kicker of course will be ultimately that the government isn't going to want the competition to its fiat currency.

Now you can make the argument that, like drugs, they might be able to make it illegal but it might be difficult to actually make it go away. Fine, but I can point to tens of thousands of individuals serving mandatory minimum ten year sentences in federal prison for drug trafficking.

One last thing, ultimately people are buying and holding Bitcoin in the hopes that its relative price vz the US dollar will increase.

Ethereum tokens are going to explode soon I think. But ethereum is going to continue to grow. Litecoin is also going to continue to explode.

I agree. Ethereum is the Mac Daddy of Altcoins and the platform has been tuned recently. Eth classic has went from 7 to 22 in a few months .
It's a dog with fleas as gekko once said lol
It's part of a fork that is struggling under the very platform it created.
Oh well. Someone has to buy at the top . Ain't gonna be me. I dumped that ugly $#@! at $15 and proud of it

Per litecoin? It shot off like a rocket today. It broke thru overhead R 1 and while ago was 255. I bought some at Christmas sitting on the toilet for 108. When you gotta go huh ?

This is what I do now
I sit around trying to keep other's happy and do cryptos

Hey wanna hear an off color joke?

Know why elton John doesn't slob on goobers for a $1?

I'm super long on XRP right now after listening to Cotton's take and doing some research. It's up big in the past couple days, but I won't sell. I'm looking for Ferrari money, not a few grand.

As for stocks, I went big during the market crash last March. Mostly tech and cannabis stocks. I also put a few hundred into a blue chip mutual fund every once in a while to maintain some diversification. My portfolio is up like 80% since then.

As for specific stock picks, I like drone stocks. I see commercial drone aviation becoming fairly ubiquitous within the next decade. One day fairly soon, you'll look up in the sky and it will be full of drones doing all sorts of things, from delivering packages to beaming wireless internet.
Drone swarm tech is taking off so it's a fairly bright choice.

This is so lame...my best gains (percent wise) are with dogecoin.

Naturally where I put the least money.
