Iran and U.S. Agree on Path Back to Nuclear Deal......

The United States and Iran agreed through intermediaries on Tuesday to establish two working groups to try to get both countries back into compliance with the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In a meeting of the current members of the deal in Vienna, all parties agreed to establish one working group to focus on how to get the United States back to the deal by lifting harsh economic sanctions imposed or reimposed after President Donald J. Trump pulled out of the accord in May 2018.

The other working group will focus on how to get Iran back into compliance with the accord’s limitations on nuclear enrichment and stockpiles of enriched uranium.

The two groups have already begun their efforts, according to Mikhail Ulyanov, the Russian representative who is ambassador to international organizations in Vienna.

Mr. Ulyanov called Tuesday’s meeting of the joint commission on the Iran deal an initial success.

But in a Twitter message, he cautioned that restoration of the deal “will not happen immediately. It will take some time. How long? Nobody knows. The most important thing after today’s meeting of the Joint Commission is that practical work toward achieving this goal has started.”.....snip~

Lawmakers Investigate State Department Over $1 Billion Ransom Payment to Iran.....

    March 25, 2021

Republican foreign policy leaders in Congress are pressing Secretary of State Antony Blinken to fully disclose the contents of secret talks with South Korea that are believed to have paved the way for that country to hand Iran $1 billion as part of a ransom payment.

Reps. Bryan Steil (R., Wis.), Jim Banks (R., Ind.), and Greg Steube (R., Fla.) say the State Department is withholding from Congress key details about the Biden administration's reported efforts to help South Korea skirt economic sanctions and pay Iran the billion-dollar ransom, which came after Tehran seized a South Korean tanker and its crew in January. Blinken dodged several questions on the matter when testifying earlier this month before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, prompting the lawmakers to launch a formal probe seeking answers.

In a letter sent Thursday to Blinken and obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, the lawmakers demand the State Department answer questions about whether it waived sanctions to enable the payment and took part in negotiations aimed at securing the cash for Iran. The lawmakers suspect the administration helped free the money—frozen abroad as a result of U.S. sanctions—as part of its efforts to coax Iran into negotiating a revamped nuclear deal......snip~

Is Biden on the slim shady with this?

Everything under Biden is going to hell. Even his voters now only say that "at least he is not Trump" leaving the rest of us to wonder what that means.

Lifting Sanctions by US First Step to Restore JCPOA, Iranian Diplomat Says

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The first and the "most necessary" step to restore the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is for Washington to lift sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Tuesday. The in-person meeting of the joint commission of the JCPOA was held in Vienna. There were no direct contacts between Tehran and Washington despite the presence of a delegation from the US. "The lifting of US sanctions is the first and most necessary step to re-establish the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. Iran is fully prepared to stop its corrective measures, returning to full implementation of the JCPOA once the sanctions are lifted and verified," Araghchi said during the meeting.......https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/2...diplomat-says/

The next question is , how much has the US sanctions cost the Iranian economy since Trump pulled the pin and re-imposed sanctions , and will Iran expect compensation for it ?

The nuclear deal was one of the few good things Obama did.
Power always thinks it has a great soul, and vast views, beyond the comprehension of the weak. And that it is doing God's service when it is violating all His laws.

This is a dud story . Iran has made it clear that there will be no re-negotiating the JCPOA . The US abandoned the JCPOA under Trump . The JCPOA continued without the US . If the US wants back in , they must lift all sanctions and rejoin the JCPOA , as it was before Trump took the US out of it .
