The Islamic Republic previously informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about its plans to boost enrichment operations, despite the restrictions imposed by the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Tehran has started up new uranium enrichment centrifuges, Iranian state TV reported on Saturday. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani officially inaugurated the cascades of 164 IR-6 centrifuges and 30 IR-5 devices at Iran's Natanz uranium enrichment plant. The news comes after the JCPOA's signatories convened in Vienna to discuss the possible return of both Iran and the US to compliance with the nuclear deal. While Washington expressed a wish to reverse its 2018 withdrawal from the deal by the Trump administration, but noted that Tehran should present "permanent and verifiable limits" on its nuclear programme.
