Venice Beach Residents Tire of Homeless $#@! Town

Residents of World-Famous Venice Beach Demand LA Move Homeless Off the Streets as Tents and Crimes Multiply

Patrons dining in beachside cafés in Venice now have a clear view of what's become one of the city's biggest homeless encampments -- hundreds of tents lining the world-famous Boardwalk.

From the Boardwalk and on surrounding streets, NBC4 viewers have filmed assaults, tent fires and just about every kind of violence -- part of a spike in crime in Venice where the housed and unhoused are often targets.

"It’s like living in a war zone," says Christina T., one of dozens of Venice residents who've reached out to the NBC4 I-Team.

For more than a year, LA officials have said they can't touch homeless encampments, citing COVID-19 guidance from the CDC. But then two weeks ago, officials seemingly ignored their own advice, and cleared Echo Park of a large encampment, after outreach workers found housing for about 180 people who had been living in tents in the park.

Now, Venice's housed residents are demanding city officials do the same for the homeless in Venice.

"People need help. They need to get these people housed, or sheltered," Christina T. told NBC4.

While the number of homeless living on the streets of Venice has apparently skyrocketed during the pandemic, reports of crimes have also gone up.

LAPD crime stats from 2020, obtained by the I-Team, show a 31 percent increase in crime reports in Venice compared to 2019, where the suspect was described as homeless.

The unhoused were also increasingly the victims of crime, up 83% in the same time frame, according to LAPD data.

"Every day there are fires, guns, knives, crime. There’s a lot of crime here," said Jack Rivers, who was living in a tent on the Venice Boardwalk when the I-Team interviewed him last October.

Storm the White House, demand joe take the illegal aliens out of the hotels and, put the homeless there.

Nothing will be done, until a lot of people start making a lot of noise.

LA was putting Homeless in Hotels, but I heard many did not want that either. The "Woke" around here don't understand these people often prefer a lawless street life.

And if you tolerate they will come!

The city is trying to push those home owners out of Venice.

They do this by flooding the area with the homeless to drive down property values.

    People sell and move.

This could certainly be true for older home owners who are still protected under Prop 13 in terms of Property Taxes. Drive them out and the City can raise those taxes on new "Woke" owners!

Get this nonsense you pay for:

California city pays its homeless to clean up encampments

A city in California is paying its homeless population in gift cards to grocery stores for cleaning up their encampments.

Elk Grove launched the program funded by The Cares Act and the U.S. Department of Housing And Urban Development to address complaints of trash in the city and to form better relationships with the homeless population, CBS Sacramento reported.

"We got together to talk about homelessness, and from my prospective I wanted to build better relationships with people who were experience homelessness, and he wanted to address some of the complaints that come to his officers," Sarah Bontrager, the city's housing and public services manager, told CNN, referring to one of the city's police sergeants.

Officers give the homeless trash bags and stop by every two weeks to pick them up. A homeless person can earn up to a $20 grocery store gift card if they have their trash bag filled up.

The gift card allows them to buy anything at a grocery store besides alcohol and cigarettes. Bontrager said many of the homeless are using the gift cards for food and hygiene products.

The City claims this is saving money even though the extra sanitation cost is because of the Homeless. And how hard is it to fill up a bag and get you $20.00 Gift Card? Just raid the local trash like homeless do anyway looking for recycle items.

They can also sell these gift cards to get their drug and alcohol money just like food stamps and Debt cards are sold for less than total value.

    How STUPID can you get?

Many of the homeless are mentally ill and need help/counselling. The city/state needs to create programs to help them. That would go a long way to ameliorate the overall problem.

Think 3rd party for 2024 folks. Clean up America.

Once I tell you that we agree to disagree there will be no more discussion between us in the thread so please don't waste your time continuing to argue your points because I will not respond.

The homeowners could just help a single homeless person and start a trend to clear out the mentally ill and need help/counselling.

So the sudden explosion of homeless in LA and other Blue Cities is due to mental illness caused by what all of the sudden? I certainly do not deny the fact in some cases, but what your claiming makes no sense.

On the other hand massive drug addiction and other social factors like easy handouts without serious behavior changes makes a lot of sense.
