Isn't it an extra $300 per check ($600/mo)? That is on top of the state welfare check- average $320/wk. That is $1880 /mo average.
For many low wage earners / part time employees, they do better on unemployment with the extra federal benefit.

I'm torn on investing in metals. Functionally they are quite useless and serve only as a hedge against inflation. But when you need them, there is no substitute. I think it is wise to have a bug out fund, but you need to think about where you are bugging out to and plan the funds accordingly.

I know. But they will fail miserably. Simply because of the advent of paper wallets.
If done properly, they can't do jack about it. Especially if you use a brain wallet.
Risk exists for these practices. But so does tax evasion. Ultimately I aim to just avoid being in the crosshairs of the government.

Additional funds are also being paid for each dependent, so apparently some of the stimulus payouts have been quite rich. And there are quite a few people who have not been paying their rent, so landlords are having a hard time.
From NOLO.com:So if they don't have to pay rent, what are they spending that money on?The Order prohibits residential landlords nationwide from evicting certain tenants through June 30, 2021.

So with a base of $201 per week, per working person, with an extra $600 per week per working person, that's $801 per week, per working person. $3,204 per 4 week period. Per working adult. Now add the stimulus payouts, and not paying rent during that time, gives people how much to spend on the necessities? Unless they were living in NYC, they were, and still are, bringing in more than they were taking home previously for many.
I'm sorry, even with the vitals like food clothing and utilities covered, they still had funds that could have been paid towards their shelter.
Unfortunately, many chose not to, and will likely skip on what is owed to the landlord if the possibly can. So we the taxpayers can subsidize even more expenses for select groups.

I have to wonder how effective 'But COVID' will be with some landlords. Past bad deeds and all that. Does it go on the records as an 'eviction' if they do a midnight run? For some landlords, it's not worth the hassle.
Back a about 10 years ago, my boss decided it would be an interesting money maker to own a 21 unit townhome complex. I have to think we barely got a taste of what some landlords go through. Just like a boat, Two best days were buying, and selling.
