Defense rests it's case in Chauvin Trial

Not really sure they did much other than bring in some experts to try and insert reasonable doubt about Floyd's death and Chauvin's use of force being appropriate. In my opinion with the exception of the prosecution dropping the ball on carbon monoxide causes I'm not sure the defense has seeded reasonable doubt. Closing arguments on Monday will be interesting.

    Thoughts?

How much could they do, with the deck all stacked against them?

As I said in another thread, in a criminal case, the defense usually lasts much shorter than the prosecution simply because most witnesses are brought by the State.

The defense was effective in cross examining those State witnesses. Particularly the cross examination of the first medical examiner.

There is plenty of reasonable doubt for each of the charged offenses.

Not sure what you mean? Do you not think the judge was impartial and created the environment for a fair trial?

It depends if you saw guilt as the trial began. If you did then you were looking for proof of evidence.

I started by assuming he was innocent, because Floyd killed himself. I saw a details in the press proven to be not so accurate in both directions.

That still leaves me with reasonable doubt.

Too bad they did not also charge him with some type of assault or a law that represents his kneeling on the neck for such a long period of time.

I haven't followed it. I think it would be difficult to create the environment for a fair trial in this circus environment. I haven't seen anything that made me think that the judge wasn't impartial.

I do think the jury should have been sequestered from the start.

It should have been moved out of state. Not a person in the Minneapolis area can actually say they would not be concerned in testifying or passing judgement after watchin the events in 2020.

I don't disagree however; the entire nation has been following this so not sure it would have helped.
