Biden announces complete U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by Sept. 11, 2021

U.S. President Joe Biden said Wednesday he will withdraw remaining U.S. troops from Afghanistan, declaring that the Sept. 11 attacks “cannot explain” why American forces should still be there 20 years after the deadly assault on the United States.
His plan is to pull out all the American forces — numbering just under 2,500 now — by this Sept. 11, the anniversary of the attacks that were co-ordinated from Afghanistan.

We have provided a safe haven for 20 years for the people in power in Afghanistan to, using a slang phrase, 'get their act together.'

    Genug!

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

This is an odd move. Trump had negotiated a May 1 departure date with the Taliban.

The Taliban has said, since Joe* announced this shift to Sept 11, that it would restart offensive operations against US troops on May 2nd. So the US may not be able to withdrawal in the fall. That is certainly what the Necons and the liberal war hawks want.

But since Joe* shifted the departure date, he now owns the Forever War.

I've been watching the media's reaction to this news. When Trump announced his goal of a withdrawal by May 2021, the media reported it as reckless and irresponsible. They said it's something that weak and inexperienced leader would do. It was said that it will ensure Afghanistan once again becomes a safe haven for Islamic terrorists.

When Biden announced that he will basically do the same thing, but just a few months later, the very same media people are declaring this an example of courageous and great leadership from the US president.
