Sorry, but when a guy who has previously said that he wants to burn my house down makes a statement that now he wants to break all of my windows, it's perfectly reasonable to respond by asking about that whole arson thing.

Burning down houses and breaking windows is what your side does.

There are some hybrids out there such as "Divide NY" which seeks to see NYS set into 3 autonomous regions. Not different states but with more localized authority then counties/cities typically have. Presumably the EC votes would be split along these lines as well. And if we can have an actual "city state" why not divide states where regions are at odds?.
No matter how i look at this it comes down to rural/small city vs megacity. 2020 was a perfect example with it's handling of Corona, the devastation in NYC ( population density and dependence upon mass transit) Then the riots. None in my little town. And all that went with it. Basically states like NY, Michigan , Illinois etc are sominated by a couple of hundred square miles.
If there was a way to somehow divide the country by population density vs geograpghy but open borders between the two we would see far less strife. Well at least until politicians and pundits made new wedges.
