Yeah, pretty much. I was dead broke and had bills to pay and other needs and also an abusive upbringing that didn't give me much perspective on how healthy relationships between human beings worked. It was pure, crude pragmatism on my part and a mistake I kept repeating for a good while and honestly, in my darker moments, feel like I could still go back to even now. It's a struggle not to be stupid when you weren't raised with much common sense sometimes. But getting established for a while gave me a different perspective too. Like just developing some sense of dignity and self-worth for a change.

Well, it's behind me. I have things, and more importantly people, to live for now and I can't let them down.
