Funny how their behavior is so similar to a regular housecat.

I doubt it. People declaw domestic cats because they tear up the furniture. I doubt that pumas have the same claw sharpening habits.

Yes, but less nervous, more laid back.

I'd imagine that is due to lack of perceived threats.

I have never declawed a cat and never will.

Check out this video of Messi attending obedience training. Poor cat, he's surrounded by natural enemies. You can see the stress in the cat's panting and tail twitching. Also the way he paces the fence line. The Anatolian shepherd and adult German shepherd are openly threatening him. In the opening several minutes of the video, watch the hair on the Anatolian's back when he sees Messi. These are herding dogs and the cat is a predator of domestic livestock. Their instinct is to drive off the cat.

It's also the fact that Pumas/Cougars are not prey, whereas domestic cats, while they are predators, are also the prey of larger animals. It's reflected in the smaller cat's perpetual vigilance.

    This is so bizarre. lol

Interesting story. Apparently, the cat was sickly. He's healthy now but he's still small for a male puma.

I did the current conversion. It costs $8.37 a day to feed this cat.
