Russia is quite sound economically . It's a matter of priorities , and I don't think the demographic problems are as urgent as some would like to think . Many countries have a similar problem .

Having babies is just basic survival. Russia is not going to be the next Switzerland only "infinitely more powerful". It's going to be increasingly underpopulated space. But the Muslims are having babies...

The Russian/Chinese partnership is based primarily on hostility to the US and the obstacle the US presents to their regional and global ambitions. Beyond that, they're going to butt heads.
