Even if the first generation of Laws prohibiting Social Media Censorship is not 100% successful, it is still a big step in the right direction.

You'll say "What about BLM?" Sure, if they have millions of followers, and are chronically spreading lies that inspire violence. Ban them!

The problem is that, you don't have BLM members that meet all of those those criteria at the same time.

They could be nuts, loud, and lying but not enough followers to matter. Or they could have the followers, but they are not nuts enough. Or they could be loud, crazy, and popular, but not likely to lean into violence.

Not if Trump decides to run and kill of DeSantis' chances. Trump will never get elected, the leftist propaganda machine has vilified him too much. DeSantis would at least have a chance, although they're already trying to taint him.

That's right. i don't think Trump will run. he knows he has more influence as kingmaker. Desantis is Trump without the tweets. Trump could be his own worst enemy. DeSantis is much more disciplined. Someone with Trump's policies and view of the country who isn't Trump will win handily.

Agreed. Trump performed remarkably well given the pandemic and the fanaticism of the opposition.

I certainly do not want to ban conservative or liberal speech. Not unless that speech causes physical harm.

If the statements are objectively false, I like the approach Twitter took by asterisking them.

    Free speech still has limits.
Your from the left. Of Course you like what the left is doing. All DeSantis is doing is saying they cannot block anyone. But there is the concern of how you stop what is nothing but a real nutcase from ruining it for all. So I share 5% of your concern.

To be clear, he is not saying that. He is saying you can't block "politicians." You can block movie stars, janitors, and architects, but not politicians. This is a self serving bill.

The leader of the free world was banned. So, to prevent politicians from being muzzled, Florida has passed a law that would ban these companies from enacting bans. He put Big Tech on notice this February, and now it’s here (via The Hill):

The Florida House and Senate voted this week to pass legislation that would prohibit social media companies from banning politicians.
Fines for social media companies that try to ban politicians from their platforms could add up to $250,000 a day for statewide politicians and $25,000 a day for other elected officials, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
The bill, which still allows for politicians to be suspended for two weeks and for individual posts to be taken down if they violate the company’s policies, is now headed to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Of course, this bill has been branded as unconstitutional by opponents.

It’s gone beyond just posting stuff. They’re used for commerce, information sharing, and charity. It’s more of a public utility now—and that should bring them under the umbrella of government regulation.

The woke zealots who run these companies are taking cues from the liberal media and the Democratic Party to censor conservatives......snip~

DeSantis keeping his word and leading the way.

I understand the reasoning... And while I agree that Social Media ought to stop banning people, it is, at the same time kind of like telling someone that they get to have no choice on whether who is allowed in their house and who isn't...

Besides, how does this work in practice? Is this for show or can Florida actually direct a company on what to do when the company is based in California?

spare me. I swear, you and your ilk have concocted a strategy. That is, tell the most bald face lie and stick to it. Maybe someone will believe you.
