It goes both way unfortunately... Neither side takes much trouble to try and keep their own side in check... Everyone's busy trying to discredit their "enemy".

Who gives a f*ck. Trump says mean things and democrats have no tolerance for opposing views. Don't agree? Ban it! Trump is being purged from social media and the left still give him plenty of free air time. They dismiss him and then obsess over him and demand he be banned from earth. He creates his own" Platform" and the left have a cow sideways then debate what exactly a platform is. They're bat crap crazy. nothing new. Private companies can do as they wish. Meanwhile the guy in the white house, remember him? Remember real issues? Being banned from a "platform" that features people posting memes and talking about Dunkin Donuts coffee is not a real issue.

Not because he says anything I happen to like. He gets to say that stuff as much as he wants. But because one day, you might have to fight for your right to say what you want on Facebook too. Turning down Donald would not help your case.

He will be divisive again. And that's a bad but necessary side effect of free speech. Yes, his return *may* hurt the Democrats. But that's why he has to be allowed speech. So he can convince people to join another team (or to convince them he is off his rocker).

Free speech has rules though. He must not break the law. Same as anyone else. He cannot incite violence. And since we know that lying about the election being stolen has led to violence in the capitol, he must not do that either unless he can obtain adjudicated proof.

Facebook should retain the option to censor harmful content if he puts it out. It should also retain the right to ban him if he becomes a chronic abuser of the rules.

    Change my mind.

I think what Facebook and Twitter did was awful, and I think it's absolute proof for why Section 230 must be revoked.

It is true that Trump was not saying what the Left wanted to hear, but he was the elected President of the United States, and for that reason alone, he should have been allowed to speak as he saw fit.

Our nation lost a great deal of innocence when those social media outlets silenced the President.

    It's not forgivable.

Not so fast. Free speech has limits. It sounds like you are saying a president is above the law. For example, if he decided he was gonna start calling for mass violence on the right by the left, should facebook be forced to allow it?

The very fact that censorship is being discussed is a problem.
When Donald Trump said to protest “peacefully”, he meant violence.

When he told protesters to “go home”, he meant stay for an insurrection.

And when he told Brad Raffensperger to implement “whatever the correct legal remedy is”, he meant fraud.

    War is peace.

    Freedom is slavery.

    Ignorance is strength.

Well, that would break the law but never happened.

the x president should not be allowed to continue to spread the big lie. It has led to violence before. Any other legal speech is permitted.
