The only hue and cry is coming from you. As I said, superman is not a racial thing. Why do you want to make it such?

I didn't post the thread. Nor did I complain about 'inclusiveness' in movies or talk about how racist the Chinese, Hispanics and Asians are or suggest that portraying Superman as white isn't a skin color. The only things that I want from a movie is a good plot, decent character development, good acting, good direction and in the case of these fantasy movies, good CGI. The success or failure of a movie is determined by the box office. If that box office is global, then there is more than just one market to satisfy. Making movies is a business and there are no sacred cows, just return on investment.

yet you talk about all the stuff you say you don't talk about. I don't give two $#@!s whether Superman is orange, black, or green. It's not the point.

I said I'm not complaining about it. So, what is the point? Do you think that if Biden weren't president that this movie wouldn't be coming out? I'm pretty sure it's been in the works for more than 4 months. In fact, I'm pretty sure that DC Entertainment could not care less what party is in power. Politicians don't pay their bills. Their only concern is making money and that means garnering more audiences for their movies.

Well, I guess they can dig up Gordon Parks. I'd be cool with that.

Reportedly Henry Cavill has unfollowed Warner Bros and DC on social media over this. I wouldn't have expected him to be so triggered over it, but I guess he sees it as a job security thing. I was originally under the impression there were going to be different versions of Superman coming out in different movies, so Cavill wasn't necessarily out, but maybe I was wrong. In any case, I suppose this diverts resources away from a Cavill Superman movie.

So if there aren't many Black superheroes being developed for DC or Marvel, that has nothing to do with the Black writers, actors and directors out there or even the Black comic book artists. Independent comic books don't have the readership that these titans of the comic book industry have. Without a sufficiently large fan base (and let's face it, the fan base for these comic book characters includes people who grew up with them decades ago), you can't get a picture financed. These movies are expensive to make. They are CGI intensive and the animation companies don't work for peanuts.
    I will not watch.

This all will eventually collapse. When the damn breaks there will be a new genre of films with people making the least PC movies possible. It will be glorious.

Actually, I like the idea of a completely woke super hero who completely baffles people with over the top political correctness.

I agree, but I think the post was really about the need for a black director so the film would not be considered tone deaf.

I don't think that the publicity does the film any good because now it will be seen as a black only film and that really cuts down on the audience available. The woke agenda is dis-inviting.
