The Democrat Party and the end of Reconstruction

"So unyielding were they in their fanaticism that the election of 1876 wasn't finally decided until the GOP agreed to the withdrawal of the remaining federal troops in the old Confederacy, thus instantly erasing black political progress and ushering in nearly a century of Jim Crow.

You’re talking about two different parties just like the Republicans of today are nowhere near the Republicans of Lincoln’s time. After the Civil Rights Act, the Southern Democrats flocked to the Republican Party. I have theorized that the real trouble with Reconstruction was the Radical Republicans.

The south remained solidly in the Democratic camp well into the 1990s. The south continued to elect Democratic majorities to the House and Senate for another 3 decades after the passage of the CRA.

    1992 House results.

Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Untrue. It took the Vietnam war, George McGovern and the Democrats disavowing the Christian God befor Southern Democrats bailed to the GOP.

    George Wallace was a Democrat.

The Democrat party left the Christians.

Your link says nothing. I remember 1968 very well: today is nothing compared to ‘68.

You keep denying the Southern Democrats. Do your research or don’t respond at all. I’m bored of baseless uninformed opinion.

That's some fine racism there on your part.

You just implied all black people were stupid. Calling a whole race stupid is textbook racism.

Black people notice your obvious racism, which is a a big reason why they don't vote Republican.

In response to that, you'll keep saying they're stupid, and the cycle of your racism losing the black vote for Republicans will continue.
