After a season with no public crowds in Ohio Stadium, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is confident that stadiums across the state will be full come fall. In a statement to the Toledo Blade, the governor's office expressed optimism that Ohio will reach a rate at which COVID-19 mitigation protocols will be below the established benchmark long before the start of football season.
"Ohio has set a benchmark that we will remove COVID mitigation protocols when we drop below high case levels," DeWine's office said in the statement. "This will happen when our two-week rate drops below 50 cases per 100,000 residents. We believe this is likely to happen well before the start of football season, and the CDC echoed that optimism in statements this week."
