Sorry, DG, but this is the kind of article I would expect someone like MMC or Ackbar to post. Yes, it's silly...but you know as well as I do that we could (and in all likelihood will) go for the next thirty years and never hear anyone use the term "birthing person" unless we actively sought out mentions of it online. You've got a literal few people using the term and the rest of us going, "Huh? That's stupid". Most of the threads you start are at least interesting - but this one just stokes the inner flames of those insular, half-hysterical members who are convinced that the Great Woke Leftness is out to destroy everything.

So you defend the term because it won't catch on? He's not stoking the fires IMO. The libs that came up with and those who reported it are.

I don't "defend the term". I simply don't care if someone else wants to use it. Things like this are blips on the screen of Society. I don't get offended or upset because someone else might have different terms for things. I have a life.

I get it, DG, and I apologize if my first post in the thread made it seem like I was really getting on your case about your doing that. Maybe I'm just suffering from Outrage Overload - people on both sides of the supposed ideological divide acting like it's the end of the world because so-and-so said something that bothered them. And then going on to defend their own outrage while dismissing the other guy's. Again, I should have phrased my first post in a way that didn't look so much like a personal attack on you, because it was not intended that way whatsoever.

Am I the only one who really misses the days before the Internet and political Talk Radio? Life was far less stressful then on so many levels.

I suspect Standing Wolf has a point - I have never heard anyone refer to his/her mother (or anyone else's mother) 'a birthing person' - that has to be the stupidest reference I have ever encountered (along with 'woke'). Like what should we call dads - 'an inseminating person'?

I am not in the least concerned with sniping at Democrats or Republicans; but I am sure that by the time I am as old as most of you - the term will have effectively disappeared from common speech (if it ever takes hold).

Then we all agree with the stupidity of the left and Democrats for using such language, we only differ in reaction to it. Some see it as a singleton to laugh off, others see it as an ongoing pattern undermining culture.
