I was listening to a talk radio show years ago and the host was interviewing Reba McEntire, who of course is, was and will be a bigger force in the music industry than Cobain could ever have imagined being. She said something that made me change the way I listened to music. I wasn't much of a country music fan, but what she said really stuck with me.
The host asked her how it felt to be a big "crossover" artist and be popular with not only country music fans, but with fans of other musical genres. Her response was that for her, there were only two kinds of music... music she liked and music she didn't like. That was like getting hit by lightning to me. It just made so much sense. So today, probably 20 years later, there are only 2 kinds of music for me... music I like and music I don't like. It has opened a lot of doors and now, I will listen to music of any established genre and Some of it I like and some of it I do not. I don't let labels decide my musical tastes for me.
Nirvana sucked. They are about as bad as the Doors. Both groups are only remembered today because their self indulgent lead singers offed themselves. If not for that, no one would remember the Doors or that other one...Nimrod, or whatever their name was.

I'll blast a country song, just as loud as a classic rock song!
If I like it, I like it........makes no difference to me from which genre it happens to be.
I do think Cobain was probably murdered, from all I've heard......I remember though, the young people acting like he was some kind of hero.
Grunge never did it for me, I was already too grown up to "appreciate " it, I guess......it appealed to the younger generation.
I'm not a Nirvana fan but can appreciate the bands contribution to the music scene and saying that a band that essentially developed an entire new genre "grunge/metal" after the worst genre in music history "80's hair bands" should not be dismissed as no big deal.
As for his wife killing him, i doubt it, more like enabled him imo. Especially since he was an emotional train wreck it seemed, add alcohol and i'm sure an assortment of drugs and was not surprised the day i heard he took his own life. You could see in his concerts and his interviews he was always uncomfortable it seemed with himself.
