I also cut down into as many roots as possible and a few bags of lime on it before covering it with topsoil . Its not showing but as it decays in 2-3 years ill have to put more soil on it . I should get a box of termites to help me out lol.
You're welcome, I figured you already had it covered, but we just put this product on our shelves, and I thought of your thread, as far as the ground water concern.

The stump grinder didn't remove the stump ,it just cut it down below grade about 4 inches so today I bored holes in it ( its about 3 ft wide ) so it would rot a little quicker .
Question ! Is there anything anyone can recommend to rot it faster ? If I throw a few liberals in the hole , will that speed up the process since they are full of decay anyway ?
Do we have any volunteers here that I can practice with ?
If you have a chainsaw handy, cut in a tic-tac-toe board, about 1 inch deep if you can. Water daily. Douse with Epson salt periodically. As the top layers rot, scrape it down and repeat.

Just remember, as the stump rots, the roots under the lawn will rot also, so you may experience sink holes in the lawn.

How about Ammonium nitrate and a match?

Disclaimer: Only kidding. Don't do it.
