    I think there are a lot of implications of using "nuclear family" that don't necessarily apply to all families. You think of a man and a woman who are married and parenting their biological 1.5 children, but a lot of people don't get married or they have a same-sex relationship or are raising foster/adopted children or any number of other things.

    The term is definitely still in use but it's kind of packed full of assumptions.
