    Bitcoin: good or bad

From Real Clear Politics. Two articles covering both sides of the question.

    1. Bitcoin Is Civilization

The former Coinbase CTO argues that Pax Bitcoinica is replacing Pax Americana — and that's a good thing.

    2. The Case Against Bitcoin

Peter Thiel’s former portfolio manager says that the crypto narrative is built on half-truths and a nonchalance about the security provided by the nation-state.

I don't know what to think of the cryptocurrencies. Are their any financial statements to review?

I think we will end up with digital credits linked to a chip we carry or is implanted. But that still leaves investments as a separate issue.

Since the Gold Standard went away then all the US dollar represents is the good faith of the U.S. Government.

Since Bit Coin is based on nothing and no assets then basically it is like trading art. Your holding a worthless piece of crap that only has value because someone convinced you it does. Some see Bitcoin like a Picasso and some look at it as Gold. If I saw a Picasso at a yard sale, then I would think that someone could always paint something over it that looks like something.

I was also right about AOL have nothing of Asset and valueless. Many people got rich on it for the 7 years before I was finally proven correct.

If you buy into an investment after it is hyped, you are likely going to get rolled.

One speculative currency replacing another just because it is cyber based is no solution.

Money should be nothing more than instrument of trade that represent real world value in goods and services.

In 7 years, I predict Bitcoin will be gone also. Then I can tell all those that made millions on it that I was right again and it was a bad investment. LOL

I prefer to rely on thousands of years of proven history.

Government script can be devalued to the point toilet paper has more intrinsic value, and it has been proven true time and time again.

Silver and gold are money now, and have been money for those same thousands of years.

My only issue with gold is the very real fact people will murder you for it in a New York minute.

I feel Satan pushes gold up to us from hell to deliberately make us do all the evil we can, so he can take the weekend off.

Peter...I think anything virtual can be hacked, has been hacked, and WILL BE hacked.

But not for people who realized their gains before the crash.
