- A study released this week and published in the journal Educational Researcher shows high school grade point averages predict college graduation rates five times more accurately than ACT scores. The study examined 55,084 students who graduated from Chicago Public Schools between 2006 and 2009 and immediately attended a four-year college.

The fact you feel doesn't matter is the fact that these kids haven't done anything that amounts to something in over a year and a half.
I know that the kids here are getting a flag for just signing into class.
I've done my share of distance learning to know that it takes personal dedication to even sign in for a class.
Most of these kids (distance learners) didn't do 15% of their required courses. Here, anyone who was in attendance when this hit, got a pass on to the next level/grade.
As for what I know, I've been subbing for the past three years. I have had plenty pf opportunity to see what their grades are when I get to pass out report cards.
Kids would rather go outside and play or stay tuned in to their video games. Or in many cases, they prefer to sleep all day.
I'm in the game, dude. I know what's going on. You have no clue since you have no skin in the game

OK, that answers how they decide, high school GPAs.
The University of North Carolina tested the test-optional theory by allowing three of its schools to waive the SAT and ACT requirements in the admission processes as long as students had strong GPAs. The results of the pilot show that once in college, students with lower ACT or SAT scores performed as well as their peers who earned ACT or SAT scores that met schools' typical threshold.

Most colleges have been using holistic admissions criteria for years, considering a variety of factors, including high school grades, high school course rigor, recommendations, extracurriculars, standardized test scores, etc. Test scores have become less and less of a factor even before schools stopped requiring them, and most colleges said they gave a combination of high school rigor and grades the most weight.
