Good to see a fellow Cajun on the forum.

East Texas like Tyler, or East Texas like Lufkin down to Jasper/Woodville?

East Texas like Tyler. Jacksonville. Not two hours away from Shreveport.

Bring the hubby, we can cook a cow one day.

Also got an 800 yard range not 15 minutes away....and a 50 yard range in my backyard.

What is your educated opinion on the Winchester Model 12 and the Remington 870 ?

Haven't had a chance to test the old Enfield 303 for more than 300 yards.
Cool old rifle that was durable and built to last.
Might need to head your way and test it to see how far I can reach out with it.

Come on down. You will find I am exactly as I am in real life, as I am on-line. ReitiredNSmilin308 is no persona...it is the real me.

I have one too (a Mk 3 Lithgow) and mine gets out there, though I do not shoot it as much as i would like. It is easier to reload the 7.7 Jap and it treats the brass much kinder.
I would love to find another cache of reloadable .303 Winchester brass like I did back in the 80's.
...but they both take a .31 caliber bullet so that helps.

I've not shot a Remington 870 yet but i've used a Winchester 12 and liked it. They are both versatile guns and you can pretty use them for anything from ducks to squirrels to doves to home defense. Great all around guns.

I think the Model 12 is the ultimate in clay pigeon shooting. Mine fits like a glove.
