    Welcome Little Miss Bay Overo

Today, she's three days old, but this was taken on the day she was born. She'll be registered as a Bay Overo with the Pinto Association.

She doesn't have a name yet, but she's a pretty little thing--all legs. I got to pet her yesterday and she wasn't skittish at all. She's my kid's horse.

Awwww. What does, "Bay Overo" mean? I love our equine friends, but know very little about them. My niece and her daughters are horse people.

It's her coloring. It's a special kind. I don't really know all that much myself, but she sure is adorable.

I pretty much love all animals, and the newest additions always get the awwww reaction from me.

May she run like the wind! Slainte!

Bay, refers to a color and, Overo refers to a pattern of Paint horse.

Beautiful little filly. I love Bay Paints! Are you sure about the Bay, though? Bays have black manes/tails. Unless it's the lighting, hers look to be a reddish color.

Edit......actually, she looks more like a red roan, I don't see any paint color pattern.

There's a small amount of black in the tail. Here are some more shots. What do you think? I know next to nothing--just repeat what I'm told.

She's rubbed down with sunscreen in the last one. She has a sweet temperament.

She's not a Bay. Color is all wrong, body as well as mane and tail. I can now see some Sorrel markings .....her mom is Sorrel Paint......the filly isn't Overo, either, I'd call her a Sorrel Tobiano Paint.

She's definitely a pretty filly but, if she was Bay, her body color wouldn't be predominantly white.

This last picture shows Sorrel ears, light Sorrel markings and, a mostly white body, I see no black, Bay Paints have some black markings and are often called Tricolor Paints......Bay, black and white.

An Overo color pattern involves a mostly darker colored body and legs, with white markings, a Tobiano Paint is colored patterns on a white body and legs.

I'm not trying to deliberately be argumentative, I'm just responding to what I see......and know about the color patterns.

Either way, they have a gorgeous little filly.
