Post Why quirky people are so attractive...

Why quirky people are so attractive... There are some universal standards of beauty, so why has evolution not made us all beautiful? When it comes to attraction, originality can pay off.

Subtle differences in our appearance can make a big difference. Slight changes in dress make women seem more trustworthy, competent or attractive. As psychologist Miriam Liss of the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and her co-authors found, to look honest and competent in a career setting, or even electable as a politician, a woman must dress conservatively and not sexily. But why are some traits, like an hourglass figure, seemingly universally preferred? Do these traits convey something about our reproductive quality? If so, how come there is such diversity in human appearance?

Better answer - Fads and trends. People are attracted by what they are told they are supposed to be attracted to. It is the classic school yard girl argument again of the leader saying "you have to like what I say or you don't belong".

    Blondes are the best.
    Then Redheads.
    Breast implants were hidden
    Breast implant were bragged about
Breast Implants are out of style.

    Men went from:
Looking like clean shaven business men and marines
to long hair and facial hair
now they are shaving part of their heads
to men more worried about their grooming more than woman.

And who invented this crap about butts the size of the dining room table being sexy?

This is just in my lifetime. Same people, changing their opinions because of fads.
