A Busch beer can sits at the center of a 31-year-old murder...
A can of Busch beer provided the key clue in the arrest of a 1990 murder in North Palm Beach. Mark Steven Gribbon, 57, is accused of killing 68-year-old Leo Beauregard in June 29, 1990. Police found Beauregard's body in a chair with a deep stab wound to his neck. Investigators also found a can of beer on the table next to his body. Blood covered the table, but not the can. It told investigators who ever placed the can there put it down after Beauregard had been stabbed. According to the arrest report, police found a notebook with hand-written notes on several dates. The note on June 26 read "Mark birthday." Another note read "Mark, Phoenix House," and included an address in Michigan and the number 179-237.

A beer can could be the scientific link needed to convict a suspected murderer for the decades-old slaying of a Florida retiree. Investigators believe Mark Steven Gribbin took a sip from the Busch can after stabbing Leo Beauregard, 67, on June 29, 1990 in the victim's North Palm Beach condominium, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported. After the case went cold, authorities sent the can out for DNA testing in August 2020. "From 1990 to 2019, the science of DNA analysis evolved by leaps and bounds, and is now being used to prosecute previously unsolvable cases as well as exonerate potential suspects," Assistant State Attorney Reid Scott wrote in a May 19 court filing.

Young straight guy murders old homosexual guy. Happens a lot here in Florida. I had a tenant once (best tenant I ever had for paying rent on time etc) who was arrested for murdering a man who picked him up and gave him a ride home - his home. I hated losing that tenant but I damn sure wouldn't have given him a ride anywhere!

If all the guy had was Busch beer in his refrigerator then that could have been the more probable cause.
