As for the Alamo, look what we did with Texas and look what they did with Mexico. Why the one way border crossing?
Lol. That gives me a great idea for a new meme.

Sleepy Joe in a police uniform and a whistle standing on the US side of the Rio Grande, while walkers and swimmers, and boat loads of illegals try to cross( some don't make it, but Joe don't care) and a huge One-Way(in spanish) Sign stuck in the middle of the river, pointing north.

No doubt, Pelvis sampled some of it when he was rolling on the Lousiana Hayride in Shreveport

There was a time when Creoles were referred to Mullatoes in this region.

This was a great misnomer and folks knew that.
Unlike today's straight up, black-white mixed race kids, Creoles had a great diversity of culture that is all but lost today .

    Creoles married Creoles for decades!
Out the norm, Creole women chose to marry a decent white man. Never a black man.

The same is true of Creole men. They married white or Asian women in California
When interracial marriage became more acceptable, like white women , Creole women followed.

Creole as a unique heritage is just about lost except in the last vestiges like Opelousas and Cane River.

I can still see the Creole in the grandkids of many of the first migration to California.

The North American and Latin American contexts are different. Creole referred to a person of mixed race in the US. In Latin America, it referred to the dominant European classes.
Whoever criticizes capitalism, while approving immigration, whose working class is its first victim, had better shut up. Whoever criticizes immigration, while remaining silent about capitalism, should do the same.

Historically, you had French rule in Louisiana. Then , Spanish rule. Then, back to French rule before the Louisiana purchase and eventual statehood.

You had French, Spanish, Caribbean, black slaves , german, Italian, free black men who owned slaves, and very importantly , native Indian genetics Involved in the Creole evolution.

True Creoles are very proud of their heritage.
They would never call themselves a mixed race people or hyphenated American!

I never saw the fascination with Elvis.
He couldn't even fake a chord until late. Most tv shows never showed you his left(chord) hand.
But on occasion , I love to play Suspicious Minds!
    G-C-D-C

Just rearrange the same chords for bridge/refrain. Lol
