Post Bond set at $10k for man accused of freezing puppy to death

Bond set at $10k for man accused of freezing puppy to death

The man accused of torturing his ex-girlfriend’s dog to death appeared in court Thursday morning
Phillip Savelli, 34, is charged with three counts of cruelty against a companion animal. He pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $10,000. He was ordered to have no contact with the dog’s owner and not to possess any animals.
Police were called to the woman’s home in Highland Heights on June 3 for the incident. Amy Beichler, the director of the Public Animal Welfare Society of Ohio, said Savelli repeatedly dunked a 10-month-old Yorkie in water and put it in the freezer until the dog was dead

    Too much lag time.

Something relatively quicker, and a little more painful, IMO. Like a nice polar bear dip in the Antarctic would be appropriate.

Dick Goddard lived in the county I live in. We have coyotes. Perhaps, strap this guy to a tree in the woods across the street from me that the coyotes live in?

    I hate stories like this.

I have no problem with hurting an adult who needs hurting, but children and animals are generally without malice. When someone abuses them it makes me wish for a 24 hour suspension of law so the problem can be dealt with accordingly.

When a guy tried his best to kill me a few years ago, the judge asked me during the sentencing phase what I thought would be an appropriate sentence for his crime. My answer was to lock us both in a room with one chair, a set of handcuffs, a Louisville Slugger, a set of tin snips and a blowtorch, then wait for one of us to knock on the door to be let out after the work was done.

That would have been too good for this scumbag.

With a recording of a rabbit in distress, and covered in chicken blood? Just a thought.

    Not in the sentencing guidelines.

I have been saying for years that if you want to commit a violent crime, do it in New Mexico. We have the ridiculously lax sentencing guidelines in the country. When this guy was sentenced, the judge sentenced him to the maximum she could and said she thought that was insufficient. I did a comparison of the sentencing guidelines in neighboring states and the same charges carried a maximum sentence of over 3x what New Mexico would permit.

Do you know the historical reason for lax sentencing guidelines there?

I don't and to be honest, I never even really thought about the historical context.

I just always kind of figured it was the Legislatures way of making sure their relatives didn't get locked away for too long.
