Is it the idea that it's people with a lot of money doing these things - now - or just the idea that people are enjoying an experience that you don't see any practical need for?

If the former, isn't that pretty much the definition of class envy? And if the latter, would you support the idea of tearing down Disneyland to build some much needed affordable housing?

My view is Branson's and Bezos' flights were way too commercial, they're looking to sell a service.

Still they do much to advance the technology and fire up the enthusiasm of Americans for renewed push into space. Well, for almost everyone except midcan and AOC.

Creations due to NASA that society uses

Then add all the development on composites by NASA. These are necessary for the weight reduction and strength used for everything from bullet proof vests to weight reduction for solar powered airplanes.

Your posts could depress a hyena.

All you see is doom & gloom.

They had to wait for the invention of duct tape first.

The planes they buy create jobs and then they hire workers and pilots.
The excessive yachts create jobs and then they hire workers and crew.
Bezos hired 3500 people to make his spaceship and think of all the contractors and subcontractors.

Think of all the money that will be tuned over in the economy to take these flights and the staff required for flights and maintenance.

It is all good trickle down.
Now if they can just get rid of tax loopholes so that Bezos pays his fair share of taxes.
