Yes, the radius is 4 feet. And pi is approximately 3.14. But I'm not sure where you got 2009.6 square feet, so I couldn't tell you where you went wrong except to say the answer is incorrect.

Okay, so I think you calculated the volume of the cylinder, not its surface area.

No, I see where I went wrong.. I found the total area of the circle as oppose to the perimeter. Which is 24.42 times 40...

No matter how you look at it a cylinder does not care what kind of caps you put on it. Its just pi * D * L or 3.14 * 8 * 40

This assumes no corrections for the thickness of the wall since a flat piece of metal will not join with the two ends exactly parallel. You learn this when you make thick wall pipe or steel rings.

    8 x π = 25.13274 x 40 = 1,005.31

Yeah, should have used a calculator... Somehow I ended up multiplying 8x3.14 and coming up with 24.42... Made a mistake in my head multiplying .14 by three as oppose to etght...

20 miles Simple right angle problem A squared + B squared = B squared. I don't know how to do superscript with this text box.

    256 x 144 = 400. Sqrt of 400 = 20
