    Who is Sappho?

I am the very model of our modern, moral consequence.
I will inflame and fluster one and all who seek for commonsense,
Confuse the undecided that have perched upon their pretty fence,
And suffer all the fools who would but think that they are not so dense.

To help me to persuade you, I have mastered all the arts of spin,
But like some others, I am not a fevered fan of deathly din,
I merely, meekly wish to bring the world to its modernity,
And keep it there, with warts and all for ever. That's eternity!

And whilst this will inflame and fluster all of you with commonsense,
Just remember that I do all this without the fear of recompense!

To be sung to the tune, 'Modern Major General' by Gilbert and Sullivan
    With apologies to same....

    Who is Sappho?

There’s an old logging town near where I live called Sappho. It’s an awesome place in the woods which has one general store and cafe which makes the best blueberry pie in the world.

That is so hilarious that I had to check.

Sappho is a former logging area. The town was founded by Martin Van Buren Lamoreux, who left St. John, Kansas in 1889 with 8 of his 10 children, his second wife and her 3 children from a prior marriage. Arriving in Seattle, some of the party settled on Lake Union, but Lamoreux, thinking that land worthless,...Sappho, Washington - Wikipedia

Do they know that Sappho, the poet, was also claimed to be a Lesbian?
That is what most know her for, even though she was married!
I know her better as the first known female poet in all of written history... the tenth muse, no less
