A ruling stating that the CDC exceeded statutory authority is little consolation. Basically they're saying this nonsense can be regulated by Congress. Maybe they should read the Contracts Clause. Article I, Section 10, Clause 1 - No State shall...pass any...Law impairing the Obligation of ContractsOf course this is intended to limit the power of the states.
But this is what happens when a broadly interpreted Commerce Clause and General Welfare clause suddenly put the federal government in a position where its not regulating things in a way that states are clearly prohibited from doing.

Indeed, the court is playing softball. To go further, Congress will need to extend the moritorium and then one or more landloards sue.

I saw that and I have to pretty agree with it. Biden as on CBS News this morning and though we don;t like it, there was no ruling against it at time, so Biden said they just went for it. What bugs me most about it, is that it seems that the only ones who didn't get money were the landlords!

The court told him it was unconstitutional when it allowed the moratorium because it would soon expire. He ignored them. They slapped him in the face for it. Even Roberts joined in.

I find these items hypocritical for in the next moment Americans will claim they are religious and Christians, evangelicals and whatnot. But when it comes to the privileged SCOTUS, members of the upper caste, charity be damned, Sermon on the Mount ignored. Jesus they ignore your teaching, oh you knew that.

Christian Charity is about taking in those in need by choice, be it a home, church, or even a community providing shelter. It has nothing to do with forcing people to take in others without compensation on private property. Something the Constitution actually forbids in the case of the military and private homes because the British Colonial Army pulled that stunt.

What the guy is pointing out is the hypocrisy that does exist and you know as well as I do that large corporate property owners like Blackstone, because of they way they are, will initiate a cascade of evictions because they can. And of course you don't see that.

My son rented his finished basement to his brother in law in Atlanta. He hasn't paid rent since the beginning of the year and because he leaves the water running and all the lights on has increased dramatically my son's utility expenses. He will come into the main house and take food for himself without paying for any of it. My son wants to evict him but cannot because of unconstitutional laws or regulations.

And BTW, @midcan5, there is no rule that "Christians" or those who are willing to sacrifice themselves on the altar of altruism can't allow people to live rent free forever if they so choose.

I believe that was a CDC thing, not Biden.
