Supreme Court throws out Biden administration eviction moratorium

Basically, as they had already said, Congress needs to legislate not the CDC. Liberal dissent ignored law and Constitution.

Supreme Court throws out Biden administration eviction moratorium

The Supreme Court on Thursday blocked the Biden administration's Covid-related eviction moratorium.

"Congress was on notice that a further extension would almost surely require new legislation, yet it failed to act in the several weeks leading up to the moratorium's expiration," the court wrote in an unsigned, eight-page opinion.

"If a federally imposed eviction moratorium is to continue, Congress must specifically authorize it," the court said.

The three liberal justices dissented publicly, citing the spike in Covid-19 cases and the Delta variant....

Such a thing should never be allowed again. Renters who refuse to pay rent violated a contract.

Another defeat for Biden and the leftness. Looks like SCOTUS followed thru with what Kavanaugh said. JoeyB will say it worked in giving a little more time.

I find these items hypocritical for in the next moment Americans will claim they are religious and Christians, evangelicals and whatnot. But when it comes to the privileged SCOTUS, members of the upper caste, charity be damned, Sermon on the Mount ignored. Jesus they ignore your teaching, oh you knew that.

'Gorsuch spent his career representing big corporate clients against the interests of ordinary Americans and consistently ruling against workers in favor of big business, the Democratic National Committee said in a statement. We cannot afford a Supreme Court justice who doesn't have the utmost respect for constitutional values of liberty, equality and justice for all.

Barrett lied under oath and this is SCOTUS material, seriously.

"Kamala Harris delivered a blistering rebuke of Republican efforts to tear down healthcare and abortion access as she grilled Amy Coney Barrett, prompting the supreme court nominee to make the unbelievable claim that she was not aware of Donald Trump’s campaign promise to appoint justices who would dismantle Obamacare."

"Few American institutions have inflicted greater suffering on ordinary people than the Supreme Court of the United States. Since its inception, the justices of the Supreme Court have shaped a nation where children toiled in coal mines, where Americans could be forced into camps because of their race, and where a woman could be sterilized against her will by state law. There's nothing hypocritical about forcing property owners to continue to pay mortgages on properties when they are not allowed to collect rent?

Someone has to drink a special type of KoolAid not to see the wrongness in that.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to do it, not the Executive. That's all SCOTUS is saying, that Biden/CDC doesn't have the power. If you want to blame anyone, blame Congress/Pelosi.
