I really don't think you can call the vaccines, "highly effective" not when the vaccinated can still get and spread covid and, are still required to wear masks.

It they were, "highly effective" why would masks be necessary?

The PCR test is NOT accurate. It does not differentiate between Wuhan, flu, and RSV.
Mrs. P is a diminutive Medico not given to strong language but she sent me a note...actually a short rage... about a week ago concerning a CDC notification.
She suggests the reason for the need of masks.

Warning: Very unfiltered language as follows:

Heading: $#@! $#@!s at the CDC

AHA! It's not that the CDC is going to stop using the PCR because it is not accurate- it's because they want to combine covid testing along WITH flu virus and RSV testing. This way, they can justify keeping mask mandates going, by treating flu and RSV as if they are deadly pandemics. Son-of-a-$#@!es!
And most Americans will act like the $#@!ing sheep they are, say Baaaaahhhh, and go right along with it.

    Stupid $#@!s.

She seems to have encapsulated the situation.
    She is not often incorrect.

    That said,

The PCR test was not accurate. It was all they had, so instead of developing a good test they put people in house arrest.

I have serious misgivings about the CDC. Not about the need for them but their goals and objectives. The CDC actually had nothing to do with this vaccine it was simply throwing tens of billions at the private companies as guaranteed sales. Then they presented their data to the FDA.
Even during the crisis the public was looking more to John Hopkins for fast and accurate data that the CDC. The CDC failed to put up a fast and easy single information page that the general public could use. They failed at communication to the masses.

    Somewhat off topic:
Before Mrs. P, decades ago, I had a girlfriend who worked for the CDC as an RN lab researcher. She resigned her position after three years due to concerns about the CDC
    hierarchy/bureaucracy integrity.

Because the freakin country has medical anxiety and wants some impossible gaurantee that they won't die anytime soon. In other words the media has contributed to a society wide mental illness! And now the government and some of those most affected by that illness want to force other's to put something in their bodies that they don't want in some misguided attempt to remove ALL risk from their own lives. These are often the same people that cannot admit they have destroyed the school life of millions of kids so that the adults can be protected. They say things like "for the safety of the children" which is bull$#@!. It's at the expense of the children to quiet the anxieties of adults. Backwards from how a functional society works!

I am vaccinated as is my wife because we saw the writing on the wall despite both having even better immunity as COVID recovered. Now some of that writing is readable in the sense that NYS has mandated that all healthcare workers get the vaccine or be fired. After all they have done during this crisis.!Also schools in NY can no longer make their own choice about mask, the new governor has mandated that too!
If you think anything like I do you'll look at the saftey provided by the vaccine below and ask what are the vaccinated so afraid of? It's about control and unchecked anxiety.

That's 1500 out of 170 million vaccinated people.

I have to agree the media and CDC is in love with these "break through" cases.

The are over dramatizing something that is complete normal. 7% (93% efficacy) of 170 million vaccinated says that you would have a potential 12 million "break through" cases. The MSM and CDC focus on these is nonsense design to create panic.

The left loves hearing about breakthrough cases, new cases, new hospitalizations, new deaths.

They love gloating and saying, "see, we were right!"

They must, because whenever someone mentions fewer of those things, they become almost, angry.

Some good points although I don't think we boomers did OK or even close. It was us who let this tribalism take hold and grow, we did nothing about our crimimal congress and their influence for sale program. We got lazy enough to vote "R" or "D" without investigation of the alternatives or even without thought. The millennials aren't really in charge yet and while the oldest of the boomer children are in their 50's many are not even 40 yet. Like all things this situation was created by a combination of generations. Let ours go down as the one who accepts some of the responsibility.

Short answer they aren't. It appears that the statistical chance of dying from COVID once fully vaccinated is too low for any requirements. But those who grab power, especially as easily as we let them grab it, do not relinguish it
