I have a more moderate view. This is not settled science. We have never settled when human life starts. Human being defined by the characteristics of being human. Otherwise life for a puppy or an and is the same as a human when it is a single cell. A unborn kitten has a heartbeat.
On he other side, I have no doubt that a 20 week old baby is not a functioning human being. The are delivered and survive very well. Human life is somewhere between the 12 - 20 week mark.
This is 6 weeks.

Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire. ― Gustav Mahler
To clarify, life beginning at conception is the biological view. It's not empirical but definitional. It's just where biology draws the line.
From there, I apply the Declaration's moral view that all men are created equal, thus equal rights must be weighed.
Personhood is too nebulous and personal.
