The Birds were ready to be fed

I was outside the other day puttering and I saw the female Cardinal as a pair has been nesting nearby and they are generally shy. So i grabbed my phone to snap a pic and expected her to fly away, instead she flew closer and perched clearly looking at me. Then she came even closer, on a branch pretty much direcrtly over the bird feeder which was empty. So I fed the birds as Mrs. cardinal has a pretty fierce stare! LOL
Probably a coincidence but it made me wonder.

Love those red birds, they're one of my favorites. Also one of the least camouflaged birds ever created, lol. They usually hang around through the winter, and they look striking against a snowy background.

Mrs. Cardinal has some red and Mr. is brillant red. You make an excellent point if the she birds can find these males because they stand out you'd think preadors , for example a weasel, might be able to as well. Perhaps the predators in their ranges don't see color well? I siad the same thing about the black squirrel that hung around last year.

We have a pair of Cardinals that hangs around the house, I'll be watching the birds at the feeders and suddenly, there's this flash of red, they sure do stand out, very eye catching.
