Top US general expects civil war, terrorism resurgence & more American airstrikes ...

"Following the chaotic US withdrawal, there is a “very good probability” that Afghanistan will descend into civil war, Army General Mark Milley said, vowing to continue strike operations when “opportunities present themselves.” .........https://www.rt.com/usa/533983-afghan...il-war-milley/

Translated from American to English , that reads , " Our new strategy is to covertly promote civil war in Afghanistan , so we can continue strike operations , under the false pretense of claiming to fight terrorism " ........message received loud and clear .....over and out !

So, when Trump's Afghan policy resulted in lower numbers of deaths, you opposed him, why??

If you wish to claim that a Trump Afghan policy lowered death numbers , you'll need to provide a credible link to verify it.....forum rules , you know...(and no funny ones)

What forum rule? If you quote something, you must provide a link. Jeff wasn’t quoting anything.

    8. You must provide a link when quoting an article and follow fair use guidelines (you are permitted to copy and paste two to three paragraphs). In addition, do not alter another user's words when quoting them.

I'm not sure, but I think he was considering the numbers of Americans who died in Afghanistan, and that will certainly drop due to pulling US troops out of the country.

However, your OP seems to focus on the numbers of Afghan deaths, and you could be right, those could skyrocket. Or not. It's going to be a wait-and-see issue.

I hope for the best but knowing the Taliban, I don't expect it, especially now that China will be lining their pockets in order to mine various materials from beneath their sands.

My question was regarding a link to verify that a Trump Afghan policy resulted in lower numbers of deaths .

The Taliban are forming an inclusive government , according to their public statements . They also intend to harbor no terrorist organizations in Afghanistan , or allow any terrorist organizations to use Afghanistan as a base to attack any country (including the US and China) . They intend to allow women to keep their jobs and be educated to university level . Only time will tell if their claims are genuine , because neither of us can claim to really "know the Taliban".

The Taliban would be wise to form an inclusive government. To do so they need to deal with a large number of tribes, many who do not like the Taliban's version of Islam.

I would expect any inclusive government to have a degree of tolerance and compromise . There may be problems in the Panshir Valley , if negative external forces start to interfere ?

You're right--we'll just have to wait and see, because most people would not use the words, "Taliban" and "inclusive" in the same sentence. Sure, anyone or any group can change, but it's rarely seen in religious extremist groups like the Taliban. Historically speaking, the Taliban has been horrible to women, and gays might as well slit their own throats because they'll be stoned to death.
