Should we get rid of the Feature of Rating threads?

For the last 2 weeks I noticed that threads posted up by Right leaning people have all been rated on. Rated as terrible.....one star.


IMO this is a way to discourage discussions.


I have spoken to many on the Right telling them their threads had been rated terrible. Many did not know the threads could even be rated.


Even threads that didnt have any posts other then the OP. That were posted up by those on the Right. Were rated terrible. One Star. Even if the link provided was from a Leftist News Source. Same goes for threads wherein there are several pages and posts in the thousands with that thread were rated terrible. Despite all that activity to that thread.


IMO since guests looking within the site cannot rate threads, and that the majority of the Right wasnt rating threads. That tells me that leftist members are rating the threads as terrible. Trying to discourage discussing any of those topics. Truly being petty and trying to shutdown those threads.


Mods give out warnings to people for discouraging people to not post in threads.


The goal of this site is to grow. Attract more membership and to have constant activity going on the site. Activity meaning people posting and moving discussions. That would be for Interesting Topics or not so interesting topics.


Again this is a way to discourage discussion. We have had this happen a few times since we set up the site. Rating threads by leftists as terrible. Whether due to not liking people on the Right. Or what they want to discuss.


I think the Admin and the Mods should remove this feature off of threads. As it only hurts the site from growing and having more activity on the site.


P.S. To those Petty people doing this. Your Pettiness has been corrected. Yes and the same, goes for Threads Posted by Leftists. Their threads were corrected too.

I can see your point. Certain types of people can be very petty which means most ratings systems will be misused. I had absolutely no idea this function even existed until now. I'd never even noticed the stars and had to go searching for them.

Personally, I'd never rate anyone's thread with a 1. I'd just avoid it if it didn't interest me or if it was full of what I see as monotonous trolls.

Yep.....which is why we should get rid of the feature. Then there can be no misuse or discouraging people from checking out threads.

Yesterday before I signed off I got rid of the terrible ratings. In Latest Happenings forum, Rants, and US Politics. This morning signing in at 330am. There were many threads rated 1 star.....terrible. Other days they were in other forums. I didnt check the leisure threads. Again Guests cant rate threads. They have to be a member.


Been like that everyday since I first contacted you and several others. All of Commons and Montanas thread were rated terrible. As well as mine, Yours, Ethereals, Tahus, Carolinas. RM Nixons. Goodpen. PJohns. St James. Actually goes before I took off for a week to get married and go on my honeymoon. So Aug 23rd I got married. Discovered the pettiness Aug22nd.

If it is happening late then it has to be someone on the west coast or beyond. If I am on late then I only see the same few characters online as I am logging out.

It would have to be someone really petty to be keeping this up for months. Who would be that petty? And what did they think they were actually accomplishing?

Any time you go into a forum and it is showing the threads up in that forum.
