(Bloomberg) -- The emblazoned message on the white fabric was bold, blood red and on brand: TAX THE RICH.

Progressive Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez used the Met Gala — the buzziest event in the New York glitterati calendar — to make a political statement by wearing a dress with the message splashed across the back.

The message itself wasn’t surprising — Ocasio-Cortez has been one of the biggest supporters of raising taxes on the rich to help pay for more social services and narrowing the massive wealth gap between America’s rich and poor. But the latest setting in which AOC — as she is known — chose to express it drew attention.

The annual event at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is the haunt of celebrities, designers, billionaires and various other members of the jet set that are willing to pay $35,000 a pop for the privilege to attend.

Socialist AOC pretends to be one with the People like Bernie Sanders. It's pathetic how well they pull that off, especially with young voters.

You can say "tax the rich" because it's a fake political movement that isn't threatening to the ruling class. "Jail employers who hire illegal aliens" would get scrubbed off of Amazon.

AOC hit with ethics complaint over Met Gala attendance

...The AAF's complaint, obtained by Fox News, asks the Office of Congressional Ethics to "immediately open an investigation" into Ocasio-Cortez and whether she accepted an "impermissible gift" to attend the gala or violated any campaign finance laws.

"Without prompt investigation and enforcement of Congressional Rules, the American people are likely to lose faith in the ability of Congress to police its members," the complaint says.

The complaint states that since Ocasio-Cortez described her attendance at the Met Gala as part of her official duties, the "receipt of the gift" must fall under either the widely attended event or charity event exemptions as defined by the House rules.

The AAF argues that the congresswoman’s invite fails on both exemptions, because the gala was not widely attended and because the invitations are overseen by Conde Nast, a for-profit company....
